SETH METOYER: FILED DOWN BY THE VIRUS OF TIME...

Earlier this year the ever industrious Seth Metoyer delivered the brain-mangling heft and horror of Between Blood And Silence, the latest release from his ferocious death/grind outfit Mangled Carpenter - recently reviewed by Indie Vision Music as "modern death metal at its finest". However, there are many facets to Metoyer's creativity and now it is time to turn our attention to his eponymous explorations of the early-2000s alternative rock sound, where heavy musical moments combine with introspective lyrics and haunting melodies. Metoyer first introduced us to this side of his sonic personality with 2025s Through The Vanishing Point - a fantastic selection of rewarding alt-metal, post grunge, ‘90s influenced, rock songs that were a joy to listen to - and this December we will be invited to return to this world of openness, reflection and hidden depths with new album The Virus Of Time. Today Seth Metoyer offers us a first glimpse of The Virus Of Time with single, 'Filed Down' - a song of powerful riffs and rhythms, industrial vibes, emotion-laden vocals, melancholy and desperation. Metoyer shares his thoughts on the heartbeat inside 'Filed Down'...

"'Filed Down' is probably the heaviest track on the album. It's about the pressure to conform and what happens when you spend your life adjusting yourself to fit other people's expectations. I’ve been thinking a lot over the last couple of years about the ways life gradually reshapes us. How our experiences, relationships, disappointments, and the expectations of others can slowly wear away the edges of who we are. Sometimes that process looks like growth. Other times, it feels like we’re sanding ourselves down to fit into spaces that were never really meant for us. That’s where 'Filed Down' comes from. It’s about the often-silent erosion of identity. The compromises we make along the way, the parts of ourselves we surrender to keep the peace, and that strange moment when we look in the mirror and wonder how much of the original person remains. I think there’s something deeply human about that struggle. We all change, obviously. Time has a way of doing that. But I also wonder how often we confuse becoming a better version of ourselves with simply becoming a more acceptable one."

The Virus Of Time will be coming your way on December 4th, a release from the combined forces of Broken Curfew Records and Rottweiler Records. 'Filed Down' is out now and available from:
